TIDBITS AND TIPS:

Opportunity for Students to Showcase Technology Skills

Mark your calendars for the second annual North Metro Regional Technology Fair to be held on January 20th and 21st, 2006 at Pitner Elementary School in Acworth. This event is sponsored by the Instructional Technology Department of the Cobb County School District and provides an excellent opportunity for students to show off their technology skills. All 3rd-12th grade students who reside in Cobb County are eligible to enter this competition. This includes students who attend Cobb County Schools, Marietta City Schools, private and home schools. ( Open to Cobb County Schools)

Students may submit individual or team projects for one or more of the following categories:
• Case Modification
• Digital Video Editing
• Graphic design (both animated and non-animated)
• Hardware
• Multimedia
• Non-multimedia
• Intranet/Internet
• Project Programming
• Robotics

Grade level divisions for judging are as follows: Grades 3-4, Grades 5-6, Grades 7-8, Grades 9-10 and Grades 11-12. Students may also choose to participate in the Individual or Team Programming Challenge which will be held on January 20th in the evening.

First place winners from the technology fair will be eligible to compete at the Georgia GaETC Technology Fair in February 2006.

Registration for the technology fair opens on October 3rd, 2005
