District IV is composed of Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Jasper, Lincoln, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Putnam, Taliaferro, Walton, and Wilkes Counties, including the city school systems of Commerce City, Jefferson City, and Social Circle City Schools.

A Note from your District 4 Director:

Hello! I am honored to have been chosen as your new District Four Director. My past educational experience has been with middle school science, which I taught for 14 years. Currently, I am the Regional Coordinator for the Oconee River Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center, located at Northeast Georgia RESA. As of August 1, however, that will change as I will be returning to the classroom to teach gifted science to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students at Oglethorpe County Elementary School.

My goal with this new GSTA position is to open the lines of communication between the teachers in the district. We can do this by e-mail, through newsletters, and by meeting at local workshops. A GSTA District Meeting is planned for Fall ’09 based on the Institute for Inquiry’s “Raising Questions” and “Process Skills” lessons. The meeting will be a six-hour workshop on a Saturday.
