President:  Dr. Donna Governor

My name is Donna Governor and I am the GSTA President for 2014-15.  I have 30 years teaching experience at all levels, K-12, in both Florida and Georgia.  I currently work in Forsyth County where I teach Earth Systems Science and AP Environmental Science at North Forsyth High School.  I have also taught online graduate courses in astronomy education for teachers though Montana State and the University of Wyoming.  I have graduate degrees in elementary and early childhood education, curriculum and instruction and earned my PhD from the University of Georgia in Science Education in 2011.  I am the 2007 Georgia Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Science Teaching and the 2014 Outstanding Earth Science Teacher for Georgia, an award given by the National Association of Geoscience Teachers.  I have been on the GSTA Board since 2010.  I live in Dahlonega, Georgia with my husband and step-children.  My own children are grown and my son is a science teacher in Hall County.
