President: Melissa Niemi
Melissa Niemi taught middle school science for 15 years with Muscogee County School District and currently works as the Secondary Science Content Specialist. In addition to serving as secretary and president elect for GSTA, she recently held office as the president of the Georgia Science Supervisors Association. Mrs. Niemi is also a Harvard Fellow, Regional Tournament Director for Science Olympiad, and founder of Girls in Engineering, Math, and Science (GEMS). She is a graduate of the Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy and holds an undergraduate degree in political science and a masters degree in psychology.
