Hands-on learning. Project-based lessons. Student-centered classrooms. I am passionate about them all. I'm honored and excited to be the Elementary Representative for GSTA and a proud employee of the Cobb County School District (CCSD). I am currently a School Instructional Specialist or SIS at Cobb County School District. Previously, I was the Academic Coach at a Title I, America’s Choice school, the gifted specialist and a K-5 classroom teacher.
I enthusiastically bring best-practices support to teachers within my area to improve science education to all students. A long-time facilitator of professional development to teachers, I've presented at NSTA, GSTA, and within Georgia to teachers of all content areas. I am pursuing my Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. I holds degrees in Drama, Education, Instructional Technology and Educational Leadership. I've taught all levels; am active on the CCSD Superintendent's Teacher Advisory Council, Zoo Atlanta Teacher Advisory Council, coordinate the CCSD Elementary Science Fair and am a grant-writing and educational consultant.
Areas of interest and action are curriculum, grant-writing and teacher leadership. I'm a former award-winning, national journalist who loves to travel and to read. I'm a dog person, and when I'm not working for others, enjoy cooking and the culinary arts.
