Supporting Excellent Science Teaching for Georgia

District 8 Director: Michelle Thompson

I'm a born and raised Savannah girl and love having the opportunity to work with science teachers in District 8.  Over the past 20 years I have taught a variety of high school science courses in Effingham and Chatham counties, both in the public and private sectors.  I am passionate about STEM education.  I specifically enjoy fostering the love of STEM in younger students and encouraging teachers of all levels to incorporate STEM concepts into the curriculum.  My current role as the Director of Scientific Research at the Effingham College and Career Academy has afforded opportunities to take an active role in the STEM initiative in our county.  One of the greatest life lessons my Dad taught me was that it's not always about WHAT you know, sometimes it's about WHO you know that knows more than you do.  Having lived and worked in this area for so long, I have contacts all over the place that are eager to share their expertise.  I might not know the answer to your question but I can likely connect you with someone who does!  Please don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything at all I can do to help you.  I am excited to serve as your District 8 Director!
