Supporting Excellent Science Teaching for Georgia


President: Kristina Istre (pronounced "East")

 Kristina Istre is a 7th grade middle school science teacher who has been teaching over 27 years in Augusta, GA in the Richmond County School District. She currently teaches at A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School. She has had experience through the years teaching various grade levels including elementary through adults. Kristina is currently enrolled to be STEAM endorsed, as well, through the University of South Carolina. Kristina has a B.S. in Education grades K-8 with a specialty in Science from Indiana University. She also hold a Masters Degree in Creative Arts in Education from Leslie University. 

Kristina has been a member of GSTA for over 20 years and has served on the board for around 8 years as the District 9 Representative, the Middle School Representative, Vice President, President Elect, and currently President. She looks forward to a great year as president of this great organization and is excited about the upcoming 50th Anniversary of the In Person GSTA conference in January, 2025.
