District 4 Director: Nicholas W. Collins
Nicholas W. Collins is a passionate science educator and student-centered educational leader whose work is rooted in providing access to quality Science education for all children. Nicholas attained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Clayton State University and Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Science education from Georgia State University, where he is also currently pursuing his doctoral degree in Teaching & Learning. He is a National Science Foundation Robert Noyce Teaching Fellow through GSU's Developing STEM Professionals as Educators and Teacher Leaders Program.
In his professional service, Nicholas has impacted students and educators as a middle and high school classroom teacher, instructional coach, and district program specialist, effectively navigating student-engagement and supporting the implimentation of best practices for science instruction. He was a recipient of Fulton County Schools' 2022-2023 Legacy of Excellence Teacher of the Year award and has successfully supported increased student achievement in science. His passion for education drives his commitment to high expectations for all students and eradicating deficit perspectives from P-12 academic spaces. He is committed to supporting the increased implementation of three-dimensional Science teaching practices across the state of Georgia and beyond.
