GSTA Board Elections

GSTA holds annual elections to select members of the Board of Directors.  Most positions entail two-year terms, and elections follow a two-year cycle.  Sitting board members may run for re-election in their current position once, before pursuing a different position or rolling off the board.  Positions are elected based on the cycle below.  GSTA members in good standing during the election are eligible to vote.

  • Elementary School Representative (2 years)
  • High School Representative (2 years)
  • Even-Numbered District Representatives (2 years)
  • President Elect (3 years)
  • Vice President (2 years)
  • Middle School Representative (2 years)
  • College Representative (2 years)
  • Odd-Numbered District Representatives (2 years)

Nominations & Election Timeline

GSTA's board nominations and elections follow the general timeline listed below.

  • November - Nominations open; Announcements posted in eObservations and georgiascienceteacher.org
  • January - Slate of nominees announced in eObservations, georgiascienceteacher.org, and conference program
  • February/March - Online elections open to all active GSTA members
