President-Elect:  Dr. Jeremy Peacock

Greetings Georgia teachers!  I was honored to be selected as the GSTA high school teacher of the year for 2011, and I am excited to serve as your GSTA president-elect.  I teach 9th-grade and AP biology and serve as the science department chair at Monroe Area High School in Walton County, Georgia.  Before coming to Monroe Area six years ago, I taught two years at Southwest DeKalb High School.  I graduated from UGA with a bachelors degree in environmental health science and worked for four years as an environmental scientist.  I then served as a National Science Foundation graduate teaching fellow while attending graduate school.  I have my MEd in science education, and earned my EdD in science education at UGA in 2013.  My wife, who is also a science educator, and I live in Athens and have a four-year old daughter.
