Secretary: Joey Nunn


Joey Nunn is the GSTA secretary for the 2013-14 year.  He has served on the GSTA board since 2011. A nationally award-winning middle school science teacher in Gwinnett County Public Schools, Joey is also a past recipient of the GSTA Science Teacher of Promise (2008) and Georgia Middle School Science Teacher of the Year (2010) awards as well as the NSTA Maitland P. Simmons Award for Outstanding New Science Teacher (2007). With 18 years of teaching experience, including nine years in the University of Kentucky Community College System, he also has experience working with a variety of organizations including the General Motors Corporation and the Walt Disney World Company. His extensive professional involvements include trainings and fellowships with the FDA, CDC, GA Tech and the National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network, and the Exploratorium Science Center in San Francisco, California.  A self-described "education junkie," he holds a BA and MA from Western KY University, additional graduate degrees from Austin Peay and Murray State Universities, an Ed.S in Educational Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University, and A.A. degrees from the University of KY. He is an active community volunteer, avid golfer, science enthusiast, and resides in Dacula, Georgia.
