GSTA's board members are highly qualified and highly dedicated to the organization's work, but they can't do it alone. Please consider volunteering for one of GSTA's working committees. You can read a brief description and see the chair of each committee below. Serving on one of these committees offers you a chance to contribute to your professional organization and to share your ideas on important projects.  Committee work will involve email communications, evening phone conferences, and other online collaboration.

  • Membership Committee - Members of this committee will support the Vice President in her efforts to monitor and expand GSTA's membership. Chair: Sarah Eales, Vice President
  • Advocacy Committee - Working with GSTA's presidential chain, this committee guides GSTA's efforts to advocate for excellent science education in Georgia. Members have the chance to coordinate communications with state policy makers, plan and participate in Capitol visits, and engage the general membership in speaking up for science education. Chair: Dr. Jeremy Peacock, President
  • Journal Publication Committee - This committee is exploring the possibility of reviving GSTA's print journal, The Georgia Science Teacher. Co-Chairs: Joey Nunn, Secretary; Dr. Georgia Hodges, College Representative
  • Professional Learning Committee - This committee will explore the possibility of developing virtual professional learning resources for GSTA members and for Georgia school administrators.  Co-Chairs: Dr. Donald White, GSSA Representative; Zoe Evans, Past President

If you are interested in participating as a committee volunteer, then please complete this committee volunteer registration.  The appropriate committee chair will contact you in the coming weeks.
