  • With thousands of artifacts, monuments, interactive exhibits and video presentations on display, the National Infantry Museum is one of the nation’s leading military history destinations. Visitors of all ages can experience first-hand the American Infantryman’s journey to defeat tyranny around the globe.
  • Looking to connect your STEAM program with history? This is the field trip for you! This guided tour will take you through the technological advances in Civil War era Naval technology. See the USS Monitor and CSS Albemarle ironclad warships!
  • Join noted author Dr. Bill Witherspoon as he discusses how geology can be experienced everywhere in Georgia even right outside the Columbus Conference Center! This is a walking tour so bring comfy shoes and a jacket!
  • You'll take a "phenomenal tour" of the Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center. Oxbow Meadows staff will guide you to find phenomena that you can take back to your classroom to engage your students!
  • The Coca Cola Space Science Center offers a premier space science and astronomy hands-on experience. Visit the Westrock observatory, the Challenger Learning Center, and see more than $17 million in NASA artifacts.

2019 GSTA Conference Field Trips

Field trips to unique local destinations can fulfill your own scientific  curiosity, help you learn about career opportunities for your students, and expose you to authentic phenomena that can connect your students' learning to the real world.  Register early to be sure you don't miss out!  If you would like to register for multiple trips, you will need to complete the registration form separately for each trip.

Oxbow Meadows Environmental Center Friday, 10:30am-12:00pm  $12
Coca Cola Space Science Center Friday, 1:30pm - 3:00pm  $10
Roadside Georgia Geology Tour Friday, 3- 4:30pm  $5

PLEASE NOTE:

  • All field trips must have a minimum of 10 participants or will be cancelled - in this case a full refund will be issued.
  • No refunds can be given unless GSTA cancels the trip.
  • Tickets can also be purchased during the conference at the GSTA store.
