How do you link science to our world? We invite you to bring your best, innovative examples to share with others at the GSTA 2024 Annual Conference.

The Georgia Science Teachers Association is hosting its annual conference at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center on Thursday and Friday, February 22-23, 2024. The theme for the conference is Linking Science to Our World.

Science informs exploration and the world would not exist without the understandings enabled by science. It is almost impossible to overstate how many aspects of our lives are impacted by scientific knowledge. As a result, it is imperative to learn how scientific knowledge is acquired and linked to scientific explanations. Linking scientific knowledge and explanations interrelate information from across disciplines into a coherent view of the world.

The conference is going to be a time for science educators from across the state to come together to share ideas, strategies, and professional resources to support one another thereby improving student learning.

We are Linking Science to Our World by putting together a conference program featuring sessions focused on the following strands:

  •  Students’ Science Journey Linked to 3D Learning
  • The Link Between Science and Literacy
  • Linking Science and Informal Settings
  • Understanding the Link Between Science Advocacy and Cultural and Social Issues in Science
  • Linking Research and Best Practices

If you are interested in presenting at the conference, we invite you to submit a proposal by Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Proposals will be evaluated on the extent to which they:

  • engage participants in the interdisciplinary teaching of science,
  • ensure that the session proposal aligns with GSTA's position statements,
  • support implementation of specific Georgia Standards of Excellence or tenets of the NRC Framework, and/or
  • support at least one conference strand

The selection committee will give priority to proposals that demonstrate a link between science and our world and/or support at least one conference strand. Proposal submissions are open to GSTA members and nonmembers. If you are a current GSTA member, please log in to your account before submitting your proposal. A presenter may submit up to 3 session proposals. Upon acceptance of the session proposal, all presenters must register and pay for the conference.

For more information about each conference strand visit the Call for Proposals event page.

The conference committee looks forward to reviewing your proposal. If you have any questions, you can email me at
